Dear Families and Athletes: Welcome Back! Greetings to all and hello to the new families. I am Coach Podoll, and on behalf of my staff, Coach Reed, Coach Stekel, and Coach Gricar, I hope all your spring sports and academic work is winding down nicely! I have let you escape from my updates for long enough! Last year was unbelievable! Working with the parents, community members, and the boys was a great experience for myself and our staff. We have many exciting things to announce and inform you all about and putting it all together has taken a bit more time than I thought. This email draft has been a two week process, but we wanted to make sure its all right and clear, and concise. So, lets begin the controlled chaos! WHATS HAPPENING NOW
SUMMER LEAGUE!!!
We have set up a very competitive high school summer league. The cost is $85, check payable to FYBBA, brought to HS, or given to me or Ryan Goodno. Here are the basics:
SUMMER WORKOUTS
YOUTH CAMPS
These camps are the major income source for our program. Please pass on the flyer and information to any kid in your household, school in or out of Franklin, or neighborhood. Here is the link for it: http://saberhoops.weebly.com/2016-youth-camps.html To download Concussion, Waiver, or form you can go to HS website as well: http://www.franklin.k12.wi.us/athletics-activities-sp-26021/timothy-matheus/government-articles/summer-camps.html SAYING GOODBYE!!!! I would like to say one more time good bye to the hard working group of seniors who will be graduating in around two weeks from HS: Brett, Nadar, Tyler, Sam, Matt, Max, Michael, Nick, and Tony. Good luck to all you boys that will become men June 5th! It goes fast and I am glad I was able to spend 1 stolen season from your lives. Go JOE!!! Yes, we are saying goodbye to Joe Gricar! Joe has been shopping his skills as a talented sport administrator, coach, video editor, and marketing material expert since the season ended. Joe made the finalist list at a D2 school out of 80+ people and several schools have been in touch, but finally Joe is going to perhaps the hottest and greatest staff in the country: Ohio Bobcats and Saul Phillips and Will Ryan. Joe will be a Grad Asst their while earning his Master's Degree in Sport Administration / Coaching from the #1 ranked Grad Program in the country for that degree. Joe joked with them during the interview saying that he could be there and ready to work the next day, and pretty close, they called him on it, and he leaves Tuesday and will be a Bobcat Wednesday. I have had 8 frosh coaches in 8 years and besides Coach Reed, wink wink, Joe G was the best by a mountain top. Thanks for all the hard work, and good luck in Athens. PODOLL's POINTS Again, welcome families that are new. If you know of anyone who has not been added to the list that should be, just email me their information. Also, if we don't have your son's email, we would like to get that as well. We are still part of the first year of the program, which last year we called the implementation phase. As we go through the summer, we understand there are other sport, family, or job conflicts. There will be a few bumps or bruises along the way, that's ok as long as we communicate with each other so we don't hinder the program goals. Please let us know if you do not want to be a part of the summer leagues and events. There are many opportunities for the athletes and we thought it quite entertaining last year. We changed venues for JV/Var because the competition we found to be stronger and would help our kids become stronger and we have some great events for kids at a great price. We want you to know that our strength comes in our 5 C's: Communicating, Community, Character, Consistency, and Continuity. To inform the new families, we have worked hard to build this the first year, plus a few other C sounds: Conditioning, Karma... If you look at our website you can read some of the old pieces of news to get an idea about what we have done and where we are trying to go. Thanks everyone again. If you have any questions, please feel free to text or call at 414.690.5784. Several of you have (Mr. Martens!), so great communicating!!! Happy Armed Forces Day!
