Dear Families: Greetings. We are very close-21 days. I will keep it short and please search over this email for important information. RIGHT NOW: This week we made some changes to the schedule. We removed the Basketball Rap training sessions for two reasons: facility conflict and with all the fall athletes coming in, we wanted to keep the fall culture consistent with what we have built and our coaching staff believed adding in a new event may take away from that. We will continue with the Weight Room / Shots / Play format. With 21 days left that leaves 8 workouts before Fall Workouts conclude. We have Hills on Wednesdays. Three left! Earn your shirt! Here is the Google link to the remaining fall schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SM3qRyYBaGrZ9NJLsK5f805w6BRcS7XKo6eBpl_LrFA/edit?usp=sharing BOOSTER CLUB: Is having its first fundraiser. HILL CHAMPIONSHIPS: The last hills will be November 11th. Each person that completes this task will receive a shirt and a chance to come eat with us at the POINT AFTER after we run. Following the Hills and Food, we will have our last weight session and open gym. Then they will have 4 days of to recover before the season begins. PODOLL'S POINTS: Yesterday our boys finished their fall league at BC. We were missing 4 membersof the team due to family and x-country commitments. We held a lead against a quality WAC team until the last 3 minutes and we held our own against BC in the last game who beat us by 35+ in July. Our conditioning and body shapes were way ahead of these other teams. We may have come up short in the score, but we did not come up short in completing a few of our goals: conditioning, character, communication, committment, and confidence. We went from week 1 struggles and second guessing to competing, and then to competing in every game we played with a chance to win or actually winning. We went through phases of fear, cockiness, to ultimately where we wanted them to be: humble, prepared, hungry, and driven. Great work this fall. South Division and NB West leagues are still happening. One great thing from yessterday and last couple weeks is that we had compliments from many coaches and parents with regard to how we competed. Lets finish this fall and be ready to go NOV. 16th. Thanks again! Go to our website and check us out!!!! saberhoops.weebly.com #21days2go

Saber Families: Hope all is well. The season is fast approaching and there are many things that have happened and are about to happen and I want to make sure you are all aware and have equal opportunities to participate. LOOKING BACK: This past weekend our two Fall League teams played and fought hard. Clearly we can see a difference the training, hills, skills, and dedication to workouts is making. Keep up the effort. The varsity league at Brookfield Central was in control of each game with regard to tempo. Although the losses occured we didn't feel as though we were the less talented team. We have been trying to establish small goals with each week. The first week we focused on Confidence and Conditioning. The third week we thought they could work on Communication: verbal and non-verbal. This past week we ran into an opportune time to speak about CHARACTER. We had a lapse of mental strength at times as I said the game is as much a mental exhibition as a physical one. It led me to leak another "C" sound in the form of KARMA. I am a big believer in it! Get used to that SABER NATION. When we are doing the right things, the good things will happen to us: whether big or small. CONSISTENCY: The last couple weeks there was a lack in consistency due to Homecoming and other student activities. I needed to COMMUNICATE stronger with regard to the schedule and expecations. We had low numbers the past two weeks in our strength training and hill workouts. These things are what brings championships in life and on the court. We may have hit a wall, but a winning program knows how to fight (Right Nader?) through it and continue. Establishing a new program and having expectations for success comes with a need to maintain consistency and establish an accountability system not just from coach to player or parent to player, but also player to player. LAST NIGHT was great to see 20+ guys in the WR and Gym. We are just about there! Remember this is open to everyone every night! Come one, come all. RIGHT NOW: This week we have several items coming up: Here is the Google link to the fall schedule: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1SM3qRyYBaGrZ9NJLsK5f805w6BRcS7XKo6eBpl_LrFA/edit?usp=sharing Schedule for this week includes a second addition of hills for make-up date from last week. We will continue to put Hills on Wednesday to finish the hills season up. Please look at attached schedule or google drive for updates. Thanks for flexibility. Schedules on behalf of coaches and players have mandated that we be flexible to account for everyone having an opportunity.
Many things to look forward to.
COACHES YES!!! ITS official this time! No jokes please. We found the perfect guys to along with our mission:
PODOLL's POINTS Since this email has been long enough, I just wanted to add a simple thanks to all the Jr. Coaches who have already and are about to put in a ton of hard work with those great group of kids. They go above and beyond developing these kids for years so that they will eventually get an opportunity for something bigger in basketball, life, school, or having greater friendships, greater work ethic, or having greater opportunities beyond what we can imagine. SO, from the HS staff to the Jr. Program, and the REC dept., good luck this year developing skills, character, and sportsmanship! I am excited about the future and can't wait to see these guys go to work in the WIBL and tourneys and at Southwood Glen! Thanks again! Go to our website and check us out!!!! #34days2go |
