Greetings everyone! A TON OF THINGS TO TALK ABOUT! I first want to say how wonderful it is to be in the Saber Community. This past weeks football game, the trip to a neighborhood restaurant, seeing families at other local events make me proud to a part of SABER COUNTRY! LOOKING BACK
RIGHT NOW: The season is 8 weeks away. We are training in the gym, on the hill, in the weight room. Now, add the FALL LEAGUES! I can't believe that so many kids signed up for it! Great response. We have kids on the wait list. We sent schedules out on the Brookfield Central and New Berlin and South Division leagues. However, being a closet 'Lancer' resident (tax payer only, not in heart!) I worked with them to get more teams and secured two more quality opponents that will round it off at 20: Whitnall and Riverside. We will get the schedule later tonight after Dave Carnell (the Ryan Goodno of the Lancer program) finishes his youth tryouts. Also, I worked with the New Berlin West guys and found them one more team so we wouldn't have and weeks with a skipped game. Both organizers are charging $2 at the door, just want to make sure you are aware. Next year I will be running one at Franklin like I did at Bay View so our boys can stay close! I included the New Berlin and South Division schedules on this email. If you weren't able to get on Mr. Lee's roster, contact him about subbing. HOMECOMING: I volunteered us to be a walking float next Wednesday. We will be attached to the youth league. Why? Teams haven't been set, but if you are a guy who played or wants to play in HS AND were part of the youth league, help walk with us and throw t-shirts, schedules, and other things to the people of Franklin. Families: Happy Post Labor Day! What a great week we had last week! I am very proud of all the success the Saber Programs had from Volleyball, X-Country, to Football, and us! I am really looking forward to the upcoming weeks to see if the efforts pay off with Fall Ball coming up, youth programs being formed, and a consistent workout program being implemented, open gym efforts should be stronger. LOOKING BACK Last week we had a great success with the numbers of people showing up to workouts, hills, and open gyms. The open gym numbers increased so that we had both courts playing (despite the excessive heat) to 28 players. I would love to hit 20 for each level. We had 10 for the younger and 18 for the older. GOAL: 40 bodies! COME BEAT THE GYM! The HILLS were a success. It was another overcast day, but the rain abstained and we were able to put in 12 hills with 14 guys! That's our best number and it was on Labor Day Weekend. I would love to set a GOAL: 21 kids! We have t-shirts for anyone that is able to beat the hill 4 weeks in a row! We will be doing hill day at the school and wearing all the shirts the same day. My design stunk so I have some professionals 'hipping' it up a bit. COME BEAT THE HILL! ATHLETE PERFORMANCE was a hit! Steve Becker and his crew went to work on our boys: bands, ropes, partners, squat racks, hips, thighs: EXPLOSIVENESS! We had 18 guys in the gym and then they played a little--they were wiped out. We continued the weight room work Saturday with 14 guys! We plan to implement into the 7-8 grades after teams are formed. THANKS TO STEVE! He is coming back in two weeks on a Saturday. GOAL: We want 36 guys! What excuses are you going to make for not making the team? Come BEAT THE GYM! Here is more information about Steve: http://trainap.net/trainers/steve-becker/ PS. Saturday has a donut award! RIGHT NOW! Schedule of the week! Below is the link to my google drive that will have the Fall Calendar. I will change it as it goes. Sorry for being a little bit tech challenged. This should make it easier to follow.
The complete fall schedule is attached, but it may need to be changed like this week, to accommodate gym space and times. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B77S9XWUqUxKSERnalUzYldhNnM Again, anyone you may not see on this email chain please forward and let me know. NEED HELP: Need 4 Jr. / Sr. ballers Thursday from 7:30-9 to help with Jr. Program tryouts. Text me. LOOKING AHEAD We have a Booster club ready to launch! Very excited with all the support and time these ladies have put into this, with the ideas, administration, and website development! Thanks Bev, Z, and Carrie! Next week we will launch it and begin efforts to improve the Saber Hoops program in a resource mindset! Fall Ball
Coach P PS: I didn't forget Podoll's points. It came with a video and it was too much for this email. It is coming tonight in a separate email. I think you will like it. Families:

This should make it easier to follow. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B77S9XWUqUxKSERnalUzYldhNnM Again, anyone you may not see on this email chain please forward and let me know. I am having issues with Max Fassbenders email and don't seem to have AJ Cat (family).. email. Reminder Tonight Steve Becker will be having the initial workout session for the preseason workouts. I will be there around 7:15 as I am coming from my sons Oak Creek Football practice. We Will meet upstairs by the wrestling practice area above the gym. Families if you want to stay and watch please feel free. Seventh and eighth grade coaches are invited to come and watch as well as we are using this program in a modified way for the seventh and eighth graders after the seventh grade team is selected. We had a good turn out for Open gym. It was a sweat box. I am getting a lot of guys asking what they can do to get better. Keep in mind the WIAA does not allow me at this time to coach. What I can say is that we are providing opportunities above and beyond for all athletes to improve their skills and strength through Hill running, weight room, open gym play, and open gym shots. I have been telling kids to get better you have to revel in the opportunities provided and work hard over ten weeks. They can do self monitoring through recording data on shot sheets and workout weight room sheets. Thanks everyone! A famous man once said "I will prepare and someday my chance will come. " Opportunities---I brought the door and I invite you to knock! Coach P |
