Summer Saber Hoops:
Greetings everyone! I was thinking about how to relay information effectively to all the families and I believe that creating a weekly email system with updated document attachments, flyers, and information pieces would work best. If there are any individuals that are missing from this, please ask around if they received the email, or if parents are missing from this list serve, please let me know. LOOKING BACK
RIGHT NOW This is a start of a very busy week and a half for the Varsity program after having a hard working prior week. Also, we have many small but important meetings coming up that may effect some families.

SABER NOTES
PODOLL's POINTS Thank you to everyone who has showed a great amount of flexibility and support. I appreciate all of your patience in my learning of new names as well. Anytime a change happens there can be various emotions from excited and welcoming to anxiety filled emotions and frustration. My goal is to create a program that exudes healthy communication and healthy conflict. Teaching our young boys how to be strong communicators through both success and failure will create confident men. Success in basketball is so much more than just being good on the court--its an off-court process too. Please continue to have confidence in your sons and in us coaches as we move forward in this phase I call: "IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS." We will be a positive impact regardless of failure or success. The quote we are giving to your guys is: "The game honors toughness (#tght). Being mentally tough is as important as being physically tough. If you can balance these in basketball, you will be successful in life." Dear Families and Friends of Saber Basketball Nation:
It is with the greatest of pleasures that I have been invited, by Principal Mike Nowak and the Athletic Director, Sara Unertl, into your school community as the Head Boys Basketball Coach. For the last seven years, I was the Varsity Head Coach and taught at Bay View HS, a neighboring school community to yours. As an English teacher and a coach, I believed it was my responsibility to help create athletic and academic opportunities for the players and students post high school. There were many highlights and connections established that made it difficult to seek out a new challenge, but as one adventure ended, another arose, quickly, and here I stand proud, to be part of Saber Nation! I plan to continue that responsibility: to help our boys become men, and provide opportunities through basketball and academics so that they will have their own great adventures post high school! During any transition of life, job, or relationship there will be a range of emotions from excitement to anxiety, along with concerns and questions. Beside the strength and support of my family and the Franklin administrators, I am grateful and enthusiastic to now be part of your community and look forward to meeting and having conversations about the NEXT. Through collaborating with my staff and introducing a new vision we will hope to nurture positive relationships between Franklin HS faculty, students, the Jr Sabers Basketball club, and the surrounding community. We will establish an attitude and tradition that will attract students to want to participate in the basketball program at Franklin HS. We will upgrade the respectability of the Franklin Basketball Program in the SEC and Wisconsin. We will display a winning attitude through the development of team “chemistry” and unity. These few WILLS will drive the mission of the program and help create a greater self-confidence in your student/athlete ultimately leading to success on and off the court. We will be off and running immediately. I plan to be present at many of the youth program summer contests and will begin reaching out to our high school boys by coaching in the summer league at South Milwaukee and the two summer league contests, while also implementing a weight and conditioning program. I would like to extend an offer to meet with families Wednesday, July 8th, at 6pm at Franklin HS so that we can introduce ourselves to each other. Open gyms run each Wednesday from 6-8, however we can meet as a group for 30 minutes followed by the boys playing. After the meeting, families can stay and watch, talk, or cheer in the upper level. Thank you for taking time to read through this letter. It is a great feeling to know that Saber Nation is a proud and passionate force. At Franklin Basketball we will try to match that passion and help it grow. If anyone desires to contact me, I can be reached at 414.690.5784 See you all soon, and enjoy the start to summer!
